Nearly a decade ago, the first generation VectorSeis was introduced to the seismic industry as the first true multicomponent digital sensor. With its breakthrough
architecture utilizing three independent orthogonally mounted MEMS accelerometers (micro-electro-mechanical-system) paired with custom designed ASICs, VectorSeis sensors capture 3C seismic data while delivering the productivity advantages of single-point receiver deployment and retrieval. This tilt-insensitive design allows the sensor to be operated in any orientation unlike analog sensors whose performance is reduced when tilted.
Horizontal deployment is needed in many cases in areas of hard rock outcrops, urban environments and steep surfaces. The sensor’s superior vector fidelity enables sharp, high resolution 3C imaging in various operating environments including transition zone, marsh, arctic, desert, grassland and mountainous terrain. Features of the sensor’s electronics include flat phase and unattenuated frequency response.
VectorSeis offers full dynamic range, broad bandwidth and low noise distortion.
